Our last visit in this area was on 15.06.2019. So we decided to campaign again after a long gap of 5 months. The purpose of today’s visit was to conduct public awareness campaign and random pasting of posters/ banners which displays our accident help line numbers for free ambulance services to rescue Road Traffic Accident victims and take them to the nearest hospitals/health centers. We were also in the lookout to find new Ambulance Providers under the jurisdiction of Kharagpur PS. We reached Kharagpur Station at 9:45 AM by train and hired a local vehicle for campaigning. We started campaigning on NH – 6 from Kharagpur Chowmatha and gradually moved through Jogpur, Krishnanagar/ Krishnanagar Bypass, Lazmapur crossing, Madpur crossing, Akra Basantpur, Basantpur crossing, Buramala crossing upto Baromile Toll Plaza. At Khargapur Chowmatha, we met the Police personals who were present there and explained them about our project. They appreciated our work and assured to call our help line numbers if required. They took some posters from us to display at various points of accident prone zones. The police personnel also stated that minor accidents are taking place almost every day at Krishnanagar, Lazmapur crossing, Madpur crossing. We displayed our banners, posters along this area thoroughly. We found a new Ambulance Provider at Lazmapur 3 No Gram Panchayet. They signed the MoU and assured to provide their service. After completing campaign on both side of NH - 6, we came back to Khargapur Chowmatha to start campaign on NH - 60. We started NH – 60 campaigns from Rupnarayanpur under Kharagpur PS. We campaigned at Rupnarayanpur Mouza, Kajla Jogpur, Kajla Bus stop, Khatranga Gram, Chakturia, Jamna, Lowpatra, Changual Bypass, Tetulmari Gram which are the main crossings on the highway. We conducted awareness campaign among the common people with the leaflets. Next we entered Narayanghar PS and campaigned till Bagrabad which is the starting point of Belda PS jurisdiction. We displayed our Banners, Posters on the major crossings, so that our accident helpline numbers could be easily seen by the people to rescue accident victims and take them to the nearest hospital/ health centre at the earliest possible time, totally free of cost. We also visited all the Petrol Pumps and checked our sun boards. Most of the sun boards were in good condition but some needed to be replaced. During our campaign on both side of NH 60 & NH 6, we visited all the major Hotels, Dhabas and other local shops, stationary shops etc. Overall, we have campaigned at 8 petrol pumps, 17 Dhabas and Hotels, around 59 small shops, tea stalls and stationary shops beside the highway and met around 130 local people during our visit.
