MOBILE VAN CAMPAIGN ON EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICE & BYSTANDERS ROLE AFTER A CAR ACCIDENT

We have entirely changed the mode of our campaigning in this visit. Previously we used to campaign at local shops, hotels, dhabas, Petrol Pumps etc. and spoke to general people while handing over leaflets asking them to call us for free ambulance service to rescue accident victims. However, from this visit we have started to aware general people through our public addressing system how they need to react as by-sanders if they notice any road traffic accident and what will be their responsibility. Our point of discussion with the general public were on ‘Basic Life Support’, ‘Emergency Medical Service’ and ‘How to Rescue’ an accident victim. We campaigned at ten (10) major crossings under the above mentioned police stations where we parked our Mobile Van and erected the four standees to create a public attraction atmosphere before one of our members started explaining over the public address system on the statistics of death for road traffic accident in India, types of accidents & injuries, cause of death in road traffic accidents, golden hour, Supreme Court judgment, scene survey, how to lift & move an accident victim from the spot, how to open blocked airway, control bleeding, steps for BLS, CPR (chest compression, position of the rescuers, guide line of chest compression), recovery position and also about our ACCIDENT HELPLINE Numbers. We started our awareness campaign at Dankuni Crossing under Dankuni PS where initially people were reluctant but as we went on explaining, more people started arriving and there were some interaction with them. The situations were more or less the same where we campaigned further. After campaigning at Amra Crossing under Jamalpur PS, we called it a day. There were approximately 250 beneficiaries.
